Feuilleton

Serial fiction authors on WordPress · recaps, catch-up, early chapters

Feuilleton is for authors publishing a serial on their own WordPress site.

Feuilleton loads nothing from outside your site and sends nothing anywhere but the emails your site sends itself.

What it does

Inside Feuilleton

Books, arcs and chapters

Chapters are their own post type, grouped into serials, numbered Book → Arc → Chapter. Previous and next follow the numbers, not the publish dates.

"Previously on…" Write a two-sentence summary on each chapter. At the top of every chapter Feuilleton shows the summaries of the last few chapters, trimmed to a word budget, and skips the ones this reader has already read.

Catch-up

Feuilleton remembers what each reader has opened (their account for signed-in readers, a small cookie for guests) and tells a returning reader "You are 4 chapters behind" with a link to where they left off.

Release calendar

Pick the serial's release days. The calendar shows what came out, what is coming, and any day you missed. Mark a break and it is never counted as a missed day.

Early access

Hold a chapter for early readers: readers with a role you choose see it a set number of days before everyone else. It unlocks by itself on its public date.

Chapter emails

Readers subscribe with an email box and confirm by email. Each new chapter is emailed in batches through your site's own mail, with a one-click unsubscribe link. Early readers are told first.

Author dashboard

One page lists what needs fixing: chapter numbers duplicated or out of order, a chapter with no summary (it leaves a hole in the recaps), a missed release day, and an early-access chapter whose public date has passed but is still locked.

Questions

Asked first

How do I sell early access?

Feuilleton does not take money. It gives early chapters to a WordPress role you pick in Settings. Any shop or membership plugin that puts buyers into that role (WooCommerce with a role-granting add-on, for example) makes it a paid tier.

Do guests get catch-up?

Yes. Guests' reading is remembered in a cookie holding only chapter numbers. Signed-in readers' reading is kept on their account, so it follows them between devices.

What does a marked break do?

A line like 2026-12-20 to 2027-01-04 Winter break on the serial stops those days from counting as missed and shows "Break" on the calendar.

What happens when I delete the plugin?

Its settings, subscribers, queue and reading logs are removed. Your chapters and serials stay.
