Stepdown
Price breaks by quantity, mixed across a category, by customer role or by cart total - shown as a table on the product page and as "add 3 more for 12% off" in the cart.
Stepdown is for shops that sell in bulk: hardware, craft supplies, print, food service and trade counters.

Inside Stepdown
Your breaks in a few lines
"sku TAPE-50 | line | 6+: 10%, 12+: $5.75, 24+: -2.00" - percent off, a fixed price each, or an amount off each.
Mix and match
count every item in a category together, so 6 of one screw and 4 of another reach the 10-item break.
All sizes together
the sizes of one product always count as one.
Prices by role
a rule for wholesale or trade customers, or for guests only.
Cart-total breaks
"orders over $300: 5% off" on whatever no other break touched.
One clear winner
the most specific rule applies - a product's own, then its category's, then one for everything - so breaks never stack by surprise.
Sale prices left alone unless you say otherwise.
The customer is shown the way
the price table on the product page for the customer looking at it, the normal price struck through in the cart, which break applied and how many more reach the next.
Before you start
Asked first
Do breaks add up?
No. Each cart line gets one rule - the most specific. A cart-total break only applies to lines no other break has touched.
Which role does a customer have?
Their WordPress role, as WooCommerce sees it. Anyone not signed in is "guest".
